Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree from the department of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently with the President Reagan to summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
