Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to pursue music more as a hobby than as a job. In order to do so she wrote her first original compositions. Her influences include renowned writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love of Bjork's style. Responding to her mother's suggestions that she ought not to aim at achieving fame through their songwriting skills, she instead recognize the significance of their lives and their impact on society. Her mother suggested that she sing her songs in public so that people can see the importance of their work and how they impact the world. It was not until she turned 14 that she told her parents. Aurora's accomplishments were never the goal of her. Her only passion is to compose music. According to her, she believes that music can help people feel more relaxed.
