Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP for the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, including her independent single Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. In December 2008, the news was made public that Rihanna was signed by Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she performed in two songs, with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed followed by a video in September. Then on the 9th of November, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then, in November 2013, she released No One and Pedigree. She then appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. In February of 2019 her music video to this track was launched. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views in just a single week. In support of the track She toured with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
